How to Style Men's Shirts for Every Occasion
One good shirt can be worn five different ways. Here is how to get more out of the ones you already own.

Start with the fit
A shirt that fits well looks better than an expensive one that does not. The shoulder seam should sit at the edge of your shoulder, and you should be able to close the collar with one finger of room.
Sleeves and length
Cuffs end at the base of the thumb. If you wear the shirt untucked, the hem should stop around the middle of the fly — longer shirts are made to be tucked in.
Three ways to wear it
- Tucked with tailored trousers for the office or a dinner.
- Open over a plain T-shirt as a light layer on warm days.
- Buttoned, untucked, with chinos for the weekend.
Buy fewer shirts, and make sure every one of them fits.
Colours that always work
White, light blue and a soft stripe cover most situations. Add one textured fabric, such as linen or oxford cloth, and you have a week of outfits.
